Today two movies released at the box-office, ‘Half Girlfriend’ and ‘Hindi Medium’. So lets first take Half Girlfriend, as we all know that it’s based on Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, Mohit Suri and Chetan Bhagat, this film doesn’t carry much weight.
The plot of the film is based on the relationship chemistry between Bihar’s Hindi speaking boy Madhav Jha and Delhi’s modern girl Riya Somani, played by Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor respectively.
Madhav is a basketball player and Riya loves to sing and the only child of a rich and affluent father. But being an only child she is not among those rich spoilt brats, rather she feels lonely and her mother is the victim of domestic violence.
In the movie, Riya and Madhav comes close due to game of basketball but their lifestyles are totally different, as Riya is an English speaking girl and Madhav is a Hindi speaking guy that too with a Bihari accent. Riya starts liking Madhav but can’t able to accept him, so they get parted. Not only this, Riya also gets married to the guy of her parent’s choice. On another hand, Madhav sinks in mourn because Riya is married to another guy.
What was the reason behind their separation? Why did Riya do this to Madhav? And will both of them meet again in life? To know all these things you have to watch the movies, as I am here to review it not to tell you the story.
The story of the film is undoubtedly good but the screenplay is really weak, and Mohit Suri couldn’t able to do the justice to the story. The movie gets dragged in many places; overall it is a poorly directed movie.
If we talk about the performance and acting, everyone has done an average job, no one is there who can impress you with his/her performance especially of Arjun Kapoor’s. It is very much visible that he worked half-heartedly in the film.
The songs of the films are also average and so is the cinematography. Overall the movie disappointed me, it is even difficult to say that this is a one-time watch. My rating for this movie is 2 out of 5.
