Today, at the box office, Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Judwaa 2 have been released. The film is the sequel of 1997 released film Salman Khan Judwaa, but it is better to call it replica rather calling it a sequel. The film is directed by David Dhawan.
The plot of Judwaa 2 is inch by inch copied from the original 1997 film Judwaa. Even director David Dhawan has said before that he is going to reboot Judwaa. He loves 9-10 scenes of Judwaa, because of which he is made Judwaa 2. He also said that he is not writing the film again and he did the same.
Now let’s see the film from my perspective. The story of the film is same as the original. Sachin Khedekar aka Malhotra’s wife gave birth to twins. A smuggler abducts one of the twins and when he got arrested, he threatens Malhotra that he will not leave them once he gets out of the jail.
Malhotra though he lost his one twin and left the country and goes to London, with his wife and child. But the other child is still alive and grows in the slum. This is the basic plot of the film.
In the rest of the film, there are Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez for romance. Anupam Kher is seen in the role of Jacqueline’s father, Rajpal Yadav is there for comedy and Johny Lever and Salman Khan were seen in the cameo.
Now we have to see how both brothers will meet? Does that Smuggler succeed in getting his revenge after coming back from jail? To know all this you have to watch this film, as I am here to review it not to tell you the whole story.
There are no loopholes in the story but the script, dialogues, and scenes are full of flaws and loopholes. We understand that you don’t want to write the story again, but if you think that showcasing anything to the audience makes the film hit, then you are absolutely wrong.
It seems that David Dhawan asked any of his assistant to direct the film. If there are 2-3 mistakes, we can understand that the maker missed it, but in the film, there are ample of mistakes which are clearly noticeable and can’t be ignored.
On one side, Raja is fighting with 10-10 goons and on the other side, he runs away from 6-7 gangsters without fighting. And on the top of it, he goes to different places and goons too reach at the same location without having any clue. WOW.
Goons reached at the theatre in London with guns, so all those guards and metal detector are for what. We don’t understand that what kind of father did Anupam Kher played, no emotions, no attachment. There are many scenes that are undigestable. We can say that the story was really good but direction and screenplay, spoiled everything.
If we talk about acting, everyone’s acting was really good. Taapsee Pannu is climbing the ladder of success step by step and success is going to kiss her steps. Where Jacqueline Fernandez’s acting was also good as per her role demands. We have seen diversity in Varun’s performance and acting- we have seen him in every kind of role be it comedy, action, serious, romantic, etc in all he has proved that he has that caliber inside him of being a true actor.
Two songs in the film have been taken from the first film, Chalti Hai Kya 9 se 12 and Oonchi Hai Building, which is recomposed by Anu Malik and there are two new songs, all of them looked nice on screen. The movie’s cinematography is fantastic, you have seen London in many movies, and in this movie, you will again see it.
Now comes my verdict, the story of Judwaa 2 and acting is good but script, screenplay, and direction is very weak. Judwaa 2 is like an old liquor in the new bottle, this movie can impress the audience of a single screen, but will fail to attract the audience of the multiplex. My rating for this film is 2 out of 5.
