Lipstick Under My Burkha, the most controversial film of the year. The film, a sit labeled, is a lady oriented and sexually explosive for projecting woman’s desires. To all those who feared to certify the film, the trailer is out and it is a celebration of women women’s who crushed their desires and dreams in a patriarchal society.
Though it is the second trailer of the movie, the first trailer of the film was released on 14 October 2016. The trailer shuns those who tried to silent the voices of women involved in the making of the film.
The film which was made last year has been trapped under legal matters of Censor Board. CBFC tried to ban the film due to its content. The movie contains sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit a sensitive touch about one particular section of society.
While solving the matter, the film premiered at the Tokyo and Mumbai film festival and won Awards. The story of the film is lady oriented and their fantasy about life.
After the much struggle with the Censor Board, the film is finally releasing, but it still hasn’t received a certificate which allows it for television broadcast. The story of the film is about four women and their life stories behind the veil they wear for the society.
Lipstick Under My Burkha stands as a strong reference to how women are treated in general, while men can use them as an object of pleasure and if women try to do the same, they are called by different names.
The trailer shows many aspects of women’s desires, as there is a sequence in the film where actor Aahana Kumra is caught red handed while being into the act with her wedding photographer, when the mother is agitated the girl says, “You only wanted me to get into an arranged marriage.”
In another scene, we see Ratna Pathak Shah, an elderly widowed woman, being bashed for reading porn magazines and exchanging sexual notes. While Konkona Sen Sharma was asked by her husband to stay at home because it is the place where she belongs.
And as the trailer comes to an end, we as viewers are left with one question- how can the desires of a woman do any bad to the society and why are men so scared for women’s freedom?
The makers also released the new poster which is very rebellious. As the poster showed the middle finger and to justify the poster Ekta Kapoor said, who joined the film as a presenter, that the message is not for the board but for the society.
The film focuses on how the freedom of women is still a far-fetched dream in India, using sex and desires as its basic plot. The film has been directed by Alankrita and Shrivastava and produced by Prakash Jha.
Ekta Kapoor joined the team, when they were facing issues with CBFC, as a presenter. It also features Vikrant Messy, Plabita Borthakur, Sushant Singh and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi. Lipstick Under My Burkha is set to release on July 21.
