This year’s first big movie Ok Jaanu is released. The story and screenplay is of Mani Ratnam, Gulzaar’s dialogue and produced by Mani Ratnam and Karan Johar.
Starring Shraddha Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah and music is given by A.R, Rahman. This romantic drama has been directed by Shaad Ali whose work we already have seen in movies like Saathiya, Bunty Aur Bubbly and many more.
Ok Jaanu’s story is based on Mani Rathnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani . The plot of the movie begins with Aditya Roy Kapoor as Adi reaches Mumbai station and saw Shraddha Kapoor as Tara who was about to jump infront of the train. But Aditya was helpless because another train was passing by infront of him and he couldn’t go to help Shraddha. As the train passed, he saw that Shraddha disappears and later they both met again at a friend’s wedding from where their love story begins.
They were in love and decided to go for live-in relationship. They start living in a house of Adi’s elder brother’s boss Naseerudin. On the other hand Tara’s mother got to know about their relationship and went to Adi’s home with the marriage proposal. Adi’s elder brother got shocked and fights with Adi on call. Adi’s elder brother also blames his boss for being cranky.
Naseerudin heard the conversation, and story goes on. So now we have to see whether Naseerudin favours Adi, how will he make his brother understand the whole scenario and on the top of it why Tara aka Shraddha Kapoor wanted to commit suicide.
To know all this you have to watch the movie because I am here to review it not to tell you the story. Now let’s see the movie from my perspective. I don’t like the screenplay of the story and it was not expected from veteran like Mani Ratnam nor I liked the direction of Shaad Ali.
Shaad worked as an assistant director under Mani Ratnam for the movie and the chemistry of the duo could do better in Ok Jaanu. If we talk about acting, the acting was also not upto the mark and if we have to blame anyone that will be direction and screenplay.
Music of the movie was also not that good, inspite of having the superhit song Humma Humma from the movie Bomabay. The remix of the song was pathetic. Cinematography was average and so as the film. I wonder why both the actors chose this movie. I will give 1.5 star out of 5 to this movie.
After reading and watching “Ok Jaanu” movie review I hope you will make a wise decision and will save your money and time.
