Phullu is an upcoming Bollywood movie directed by Abhishek Saxena and stars Sharib Ali Hashmi, Jyotii Sethi, and Nutan Surya. The story is about a man Phullu who wants to help women of his village to embrace sanitary napkins and take a step towards menstrual hygiene.
A sanitary pad, a thing which you always get in a black pack, can be an alien for thousands of women. But it seems that a normal thing like sanitary napkins can be extreme for somebody else, for example, Bollywood. Bollywood has found this fascinating enough and is coming up with not just one but two movies inspired by the issues.
Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Padman deals with a similar subject of menstrual hygiene and now it’s Phullu, which can be a concern for Akshay’s Padman. The makers of the Phullu recently released the trailer of the film which captures the word of remote village beautifully, where modernity is still yet to knock the doors.
The trailer shows how a man who is happily living with his family and one day he came to know about sanitary napkins and wonders that the women of his house never uses. He felt sad knowing how women deal with the problem and want to provide sanitary pads to every woman of his village.
The story seems full of humour, a bit of melodrama and gives a social message of women’s hygiene. Phullu is slated to release on June 16 this year.
