Today’s second release is Lucknow Central, written by Ranjit Tiwari and Aseem Arora, directed bt Ranjit Tiwari and produced bt Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Nikhil Advani. The film features Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Deepak Dobriyal, Gippy Gerewal, Rajesh Sharma and Innamulhaq in the leading roles.
The plot of the film is based on the five prisoners of the Lucknow Central Jail, Kishen Gahorotra (Farhan Aktar), Pali (Gippy Grewal), Victor (Deepak Dobriyal), Pandit Ji (Rakesh Sharma) ad Dikkat Ansari (Innamulhaq), who wants to get free from the jail. Kishen who is locked in the false muder case and his dream is to build his own singing band but unfortunately he was send behind the bars. On the other hand, Diana Penty aka Gayatri Kashyap, works on the prisoner reformation meets Kishan due the same matter.
The Chief Minister wants a band competition to take place on the occasion of 15 August, he wants prisoners of all jails to make their own band and compete. The IG gave Lucknow Central’s responsibility to Gayatri. Knowing so, all the five prisoners nodded to make a band for Lucknow Central as they want to get free from the jail.
So will they be able to run away from the jail? Will they perform on the day of competition? Will Krishna proved innocent? To know all this you have to watch the film, because I am here to review it not to tell you the story. Now let’s see the film from my perspective.
The story and screenplay of the film is wonderfull, it is a very taleful story if we ignores some of the technicalities. The direction of Ranjit Tiwari is classy and great, it doesn’t seems that Lucknow Central is his debut film. Yes, he does missed out some nitty gritty details, but we can ignore it.
Talking about the performances, everyone did a tremendous job, which is obivious as all the artist are great actors. At many places Farhan reminded us of Milka Singh of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Rajesh Sharma, who played the role of a tailor did a fabulous job and like wise Deepak Dobriyal, Innamulhaq and Gippy Gerewal did a spectacular job. The role of Ronit Roy as a jailor is again very good, he did a great job like always and is the best fit for the role. Even Diana Penty’s acting is commendable.
The songs of the film is also good, background score is great. The cinematography of Tushar Kanti Ray is fabulous, he showed every corner of the jail in a best of possible manner.
Now comes the final verdict of the film. Lucknow Central is a must watch film, from story to scripting, cinematography to editing to direction to acting, every area is just perefect and everyone’s hardwork is clearly shown. This is a film you won’t regret spending time and money on, my rating to this film is 3.5 out of 5.
