Sanghamitra is an upcoming Tamil historical drama film and about a month ago the news came out that actress Shruti Haasan walked out of the project as she didn’t receive a proper bound script and a proper date calendar. Then the makers of the film have approached actress Hansika Motwani to play the lead role in the film.
The first look poster of the characters was revealed at the Cannes Festival this year by the cast and crew of the film. The film features Ravi and Arya in lead roles and Shruti Haasan was supposed to play the titular role in the film but as she walked out makers approached top actresses of South Indian film industry to play the warrior princess.
Hansika Motwani and Nayanthara were the top contenders for the role. It was said that Hansika has been finalised but as per sources not has been confirmed yet.
According to a source, told IANS, “Hansika has been approached, yes, but she hasn’t been signed yet as opposed to some reports. In fact, the makers are in talks with a few more actresses and it’s not sure who they plan on signing.”
The film will be directed by Sundar C. Set in the 8th century, “Sanghamitra’ is a tale of valour, teaching, and love. The film produced by Sri Thenandal Studios and music will be composed by A.R. Rahman.
